Ahh, finally there. So your price comes in at around $145.00-USD for a blank PCB and 3 PICs
(or $217.00-USD for a complete built and tested board)

and at last look at suitable stepper motors were like around $30/pair, and last look at stepper drivers was around $44/pair off eBay. So we're talking around $219.00-USD and whatever the cost is associated with fabrication of the actual winder, and traverse mechanism (under $100-USD?).

So then as a reasonable ball-park price figure one should be looking at a little over $300-USD and a bit of fabrication to get into your CNC winder, ...correct?

Brad that looks about right to me, I came with a rough estimate of under $400. Don't forget the power supply transformer for $15.

Andrew, i reply here to your PM so it's useful for everyone interested....

the driver posted in my POST#105 is not well tested....

I built it but after some problems with them David King sent me 2 dragon driver so I left my drivers...
....after mounting Dragon drivers i discovered that problems was not in my drivers but in power supply transformer i used....

...winder in youtube videos has the dragon drivers...

now i'm building a new complete electronics with those my drivers.... so i'll test well in some days or in the next week....

... this could be a cheap solution.... it is a 3 axis driver but you can use 2... but could be some difficult in wiring with that connector for who has not experience.....

here is a picture for drilling panel:

in black mounting screws and display window
in red push buttons
in green hole for wire block screws.... You can make not these but You have to disassemble unit from panel for wiring.... (i will not make in my new electronics)

remember to print in 100% dimensions and check it before drilling

I wonder if I need stand-offs under the display? I don't think so but I thought I'd check before I solder the display in place..

Found the PICs but I don't know which one goes where. One has tape over it, is it IC1?
