Sorry, let me rephrase my question. Has anyone ever adapted the electronics in one of these to a counter for a pickup winder?

No one has done that I think it's safe to say. I don't see how you could really unless the chip was set up to give a turns count on some pin but I doubt that very much. It's like asking someone to turn a speedometer into an odometer. Where do you begin?

Go on ebay and search for "preset counter" -that's what you really want.

Wouldn't be too bad as long as it proved to be accurate. Plus you'd get a tach for grins as well.

Yeah, I was one of those guys who got excited the first time I ran my winder with a reed switch/pedometer counter! Of course that didn't last long.

I found this on eBay for a good price. I'll probably be selling it since I'm going to make the CNC winder and wont be needing it.
