would it be suitable to use a motor from a stand up floor fan as opposed to a sewing machine?

what are some pros or cons to this idea that you could see?


is could it be too much power or something? i have one that has 3 speeds and off. and am looking at maybe using that as opposed to sewing machine (being that the free sewing machine i acquired does not have a power supply)

Fan motor

At this point I am using an oscillation fan motor hooked up to a dimmer switch.
I will update it to a sewing machine motor, but what I have now works fine.
It had the 3 speed button setup which I discarded.

is there any reason you want to change to sewing machine? sounds like you have a pretty sweet setup. my first thought was that the fan motor would be more reliable and wired to a dimmer switch is a great idea for more speed control..
