  • Anyone here make their own jigs for pickups

I am looking for someone who makes or has made their own bobbin holding jigs for their winder. Something to hold the bobbin true while winding. I have seen a post or 2 here about it and someone actually was selling them but I can't find it now. Thanks!

I think you will find it is Bruce Johnson who will do that for you.

Yep, that's probably me that you are thinking of. I'm certainly not the only one who's made my own specialized face plates and bobbin holding hardware, but I have offered my services to other winders. I don't have any standard off-the-shelf parts, but I have my own fairly complete machine shop and can make up what you need. I generally charge $25/hr for custom machined parts as long as you're not in a super-duper hurry.

Here's a link to a series of pages from my own site, showing my whole process of pickup making. You'll see the techniques I use for mounting my own bobbins. But there are many other ways, and I encourage you to figure out what would work best for you.

This is probably the thread that you remember, where we talked about face plates, and I ended up making up a custom face plate for Nate (888guitars):
