  • CUB3, CUB4, CUB3L000, etc... what's the diff!?

Hopefully you guys can help. I've searched around the forum and can't seem to put my finger on the differences between the different CUB# units... and even more baffling is all the different variations of CUB#'s there are. Ex: CUB3L000 or CUB3LR00. I understand that datasheets will let you know how fast they can count, how many numbers they'll display, etc. But given that somewhere on here someone pointed out a CUB1 will count as fast as 3000rpm... shouldn't ANY of these CUB# units work fine?
I'm pretty set on an optical sensor (usual recommended OPTEK one), but am yet to decide if I'm gunna go the Grizzly variable speed mini lathe route (and do it up REAL nice from the start), or go the "Build it up myself ala Schatten with a sewing machine motor" route.
    Thanks guys,
    Chris

You have to read the datasheets.
    All have different count rates.
    Some are big.
    Some are small.
    Some have a backlight.
Some accept an AC or DC input.
Some have a key lock for reset.
    Some cost more than others.
Some are programable for doing multiplication or division to the count.
    Some mount to a pcb.
Some do not have a bezel.

        Cub3

I thought you wanted to know the difference from one to the other.
For winding counts, you can't beat the Cub3.
        (the Cub3R is remote reset)
