Wondering About the RPM's for THIS?

Depends. What are you going to use it for? I have never used a bench grinder and thought to myself "Hey, I wish I could control the speed on this thing". I'm sure there's times when you might need it (sharpening things maybe...?), but I've never needed that ability in the nearly 20 years I've been using one. Usually I'm just hogging out metal and trying to de-burr stuff. I use it as a coarse tool.
Edit: Never mind my post. I completely missed that this was in the winding gear section (I only browse the main page with everything lumped together). I'll go back to my hole now.-Mike

Grinders run too fast.It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Benchtop Wood Lathe - 8" x 12"
& i'm tempted to buy another & convert it to a winder ,I'm sure i can rig a counter to it & it has a potentiometer that has a very wide sweep to control the speed
If my first Homemade winder ever dies this will be the basis of a new winder"UP here in the Canada we shoot things we don't understand"

I changed that plan when the CNC winder project got started here. That's what I'm going to make now.It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
