  • Ohm guitars sidewinder

    Hi all!
In January I ordered ohm guitars sidewinder pickup coil winding machine. Payment was made on January 2. By email I was informed that sidewinder will be sent to me on January 16. But so far, I have not received any parcel, although it has been more than two months. Of course maybe the premise delayed at customs, or mail (in our country that is possible). But I note the fact that Mark (coil winder machine manufacturer) does not respond to the letter, where I ask to specify the number of tracking parcels, or at least confirm that the parcel was sent, that I was not reassuring. Has anyone ordered from Ohmguitars, how long was the premise? Because it bothers me, I will be glad of any information, because the primary source of I can not get any answers. And while I can not recommend the book with him, until I get my package in its entirety.
Sorry for my english, I'm still studying it.

So How about it gang, what do you think of a fellow musician ordering something in good faith, and getting dissed?
Does anyone know Mark at Sidewinder Pickup winders?

If he sent it airmail small parcel there will be no tracking number just the customs tag which isn't much use usually. Two months is too long but Sidewinder/ ohm guitars is also just another guy who may or may not be well organized.
Italy has a terrible reputation at customs and postal system, no surprise if that's where you happen to live.

I live in Russia, but we have a post system and customs are also poorly organized.
I am not writing here to complain, and I understand that this is my problem, but when I was looking for reviews before paying, I have not found it. Therefore, this topic is more for those who will in future be ordered sidewinder.
I paid by PayPal, if you need proof of payment, this transaction number:

Personally I think responsibility should be shared between buyer and seller.

The Ohm/Sidewinder website says they use "Wepay" for payments, did you go through paypal instead? Paypal should be able to get an answer for you and eventually get your money back. I have no idea what Wepay is or what their buyer protection policy is but I'll bet you have some recourse there as well.

Paypal insists that all orders be shipped with tracking so that they can determine independently if the buyer received the package or not. If the seller chooses to forego tracking to save money then I think Paypal can hold them accountable if the buyer is "verified".

At the time when I was paying with a ohm / sidewinder site was a reference to the payment system paypal, probably from the time they changed the payment system. In addition to the expected date of dispatch I sent my schedule for the application and Mark confirmed that he received it, I think if the money did not come, he would not have to talk about it. But then all messages to him went unanswered.

              I don't have a paypal account.
Was thinking you can file a claim with Paypal.
I think they will contact the seller.
Can others here respond to how Paypal, and how paypal claims work?

I wrote the last message to the seller sidewinder, that tomorrow I put a dispute on the return of money in paypal, if you do not get any information. It is possible that the order held at customs, but then I'd Customs notified about it. But, given the silence of the seller, it is time to do it.

I think that PayPal only gives you 30 days to file a claim. You should definitely try anyway. Hopefully, I'm wrong and you've got nothing to loose anyway.

I think you have more like 60 days to initiate a dispute but the process takes a minimum of 15 days. Better to pay with a credit card through paypal as the credit card companies can issue a charge-back almost immediately if they think it's warranted.

                        He dropped off the map.
Probably a bankruptcy, or a death, etc.

Hope it's a bankruptcy or something from which there is way out.
That machine is very simple and inexpensive to build.
If I were sidewinder, had some problem and owed, say, a car or an expensive guitar, well, it might be impossible to fullfill the order, but in this case, I'd build the machine and send it.
How much can a sewing machine motor and a cheap speed controller housed in a crude box cost?
As of Ilya's problem: did he consider the sidewinder machine is very probably 110V? (Russia=220V)
I would just get a 220V sewing machine motor, a sewing machine foot rheostat and build a winder in an afternoon for a few kopeks.

Thanks I already buy sewing machine motor with foot pedal speed regulator. Also I have this digital counter ײטפנמגמי סקועקטך - NF408 it is very nice and useful (up|down count, autostop on fix count and more). It remains to put all it in a nice case. And new pickup winder machine will be ready.
