  • Wholesale source for pickup parts?

Does anyone know of a good source for wholesale pickups parts? (bobbins, flatwork, etc.) AllParts is not only pretty limited in what they sell, they rarely have it in stock and StewMac is retail-priced. Thanks... Jack

I would ask this question in the main Pickup Makers forum. This issue is always coming up, so I would do a search of past postings first.

There are no wholesalers in america. You can ask allparts for OEM pricing and they may give it to you. Thats about 50% off ish.

Otherwise you are going to have to look in Japan, China, or Korea.

          Already an AllParts client

          Thanks for the response.

Yeah, I already buy wholesale from AllParts but, even at AllParts idea of wholesale, pickup parts (bobbins, plates, etc) are a little pricey in large quantities. Was looking for a manufacturer of bobbins rather than a middle-man and, you're probably right... I'll probably need to look at China.

Man, I try to buy everything I need from the US but it's getting harder and harder to do that all the time! I believe in the "Buy Close To Home" philosophy as much as humanly possible and when economically feasible...

          Thanks for the note... Jack

I should saw there are no wholesale BOBBIN manufacturers in America. Many other parts there are. Be specific in what you're looking for and maybe I or others can help.

You can buy magnets, flatwork (forbon), screws, etc all made in America. Plastic parts though? There are not many injection molders left :/

No problem! He's great to do business with, and even though the parts are coming from Japan, they come quickly!

I get most of my parts from him and GuitarJonesUSA.

For Allparts, you'll have to fax in your Business/Trader's License and they'll offer wholesale pricing to you. Without doing so, I doubt you'll get OEM pricing from them.

                      oh yeah...

Right... already did that and I'm already an AllParts & a WD customer. I'm just always on the prowl for a better selection, better quality, lesser cost, etc., etc. And it pays to have several sources for the same product I've found. Rely on one place a little too much and it'll certainly come around to bite you on the kiester, that's fer sure! Thanks for the response! ~~ Jack

You know in NJ you don't get a business license, so those request always puzzle me!

I just used my tax ID number with Hipshot. I never heard back from Allparts.

I have purchased my initial stock from Mojo Pickup Parts » Vintage Musical Supply Parts for Amplifiers & Guitars

There prices are a bit above average until you fax or email them a copy of your business license. Once you do that and log in with your dealer account, most all the prices are cut in half. I just purchased pre cut strat flatwork for 4 sets (12 ea.) 2 tele neck, 2 tele bridge, 2 tele bridge plates, all the magnets in an assortment of sizes and grades to put out 2 sets of 50s strat, 70s strat, and 2 tele sets, 3 dozen pre-cut tubing (i like the tubing over the springs), 2 nickel silver neck tele covers, 4 sets of strat covers and a few other odds and ends.

After shipping, the whole order cost right at $100, which comes out to about $6.25 each including 2 sets of tele covers and plates which increased the per piece cost. This is without factoring in the cost of wire and leads.

I get most of my flatwork from mojo. When you order by the 100's as I do, price is really attractive. I've personally found Montreux's flatwork to be undersized in pole-piece spread. Maybe by about 2 mm. Anybody else notice this?
