  • Rat droppings!

I checked out an old amp today and found some rat/mouse droppings amongst the dust bunnies. I know these droppings can spread disease. How do you handle cleaning the cabinet?

By the way, had there been a lot of droppings and/or rat urine, the cabinet would have gone to the dump or bonfire.

Danger is low, but wearing a face mask is a good idea while cleaning it out.

I've come across a few of these threads, can't say how exactly to find them, but a search for 'turds', 'droppings' or whatnot may provide some additional advice.

Vacuuming is best, but sometimes you can't get everything. I will sometimes use an air compressor to blow out the rest (outdoors of course and, as xtian said, a mask is a good idea). Hey, at least it's not the rodents themselves. I've had amps come in with dead mice, frogs, and other critters inside.

I will usually spray with Lysol and wipe down with paper towel while wearing gloves.
