  • Need help with Fender 3 switch footpedal

Does anyone out there know how or IF a 3 button Fender footswitch (Channel, reverb boost) can be altered electronically to work as a 3 switch (Channel, Gain, Reverb) footswitch. I've examined it and discovered that the switching is done via Zener Diodes however I don't know the values and HOPE changing one will alter it to suit my needs.
    Thanks,
    Andy

The diodes in the switch do not have specific effects, they simply decode whatever the amp wants them to be: function A, function B, function C. Try the pedal, it may work as is, just the label will be wrong.

That's what I was hoping when I purchased the pedal, however the third function switch (boost) doesn't function at all. After dismantling the unit I came across the diodes in the pcb and assumed that each has a certain value which, as you suggested, decodes the required information to the amplifier. And I was hoping someone could help with the proper value of the diode for the "gain select" button (e.g. 3.2 V 4.9V etc.). Thank you for the info given, and if you (or anyone else) can provide me with needed information I would be grateful. Thanks,
      Andy

But you have not told us what model the amp is. That makes it hard to look up what the amp wants to see.

Have you verified with an ohm meter that that switch is functioning? And using the diode test, are all the diodes OK?

Thanks for all your help, I suppose I am leaving out important details. First off the amp is a Fender RocPro 1000, and what I ave discovered is that the diode in question is metal encased and has what appears to be the Motorola emblem followed by a K, next is IN then 52 then 34B and lastly 807 and appears to be operational i.e. it conducts in one direction and in the diode test mode it registers at .741 so I'm sure it is functional, but perhaps the wrong value for the purpose I need. I hope I'm clearing up things somewhat. I just hate to have to buy a new pedal if I can modify the current one. Thanks again,
          Andy
