Hey guys, before you start ripping your Cube amp apart, I have an easier fix for a common problem with the input jack socket on my Cube 80 which I am pretty sure has commonality with several others.
My socket was getting loose so I had a good look with an illuminated magnifier. If you do the same, you will see that there is a small metal tang that ends about 1/4" (approximately 6mm for metric musos!) from the mouth of the socket.
Since Roland chose to use a cheap, shoddy, low quality, abominable, POS, Chinese built, plastic, arse, abhorrent and horrible input socket, the tang, which is supposed to stick out a bit to make contact with the ground sleeve of the jack plug relaxes and makes a poor contact. I just stuck a toothpick down between the tang and the plastic sidewall to tease the little chap out a bit - presto, good contact. Remove the tooth pick before inserting the plug, of course!
For amateurs, like me, no worries, just do the same every few months. For pros, make sure your roadies have a good supply of toothpicks or buy an amp that doesn't have a cheap, shoddy, etc, input jack.
And if you work for Roland, take several demerits and a sound kick in the butt for compromising your unrivalled rep for quality with such a POS component. I mean, If I want shoddy shite, I buy cheap German company (that rhymes with Bay Finger) made in China for 3 bucks a container load of dwang!
