A long term customer showed up with a huge lighting controller - the thing is the size of a DX7. NSI 7000 something. Says the display backlights but no display appears, and no funtion on the board in general. I fire it up and sure enough.

SO I flipped it over and saw the "200-240v" showing through the little window on the fuse block. I said, "look here." He said, "I already replaced the fuses." That may be, but READ what you see.

Pop out the fuse block and turn it around. Voila, thing lights up and works.

What do I owe you? Just give me something for my waitress at dinner. His 10-spot covered it.

He then proceeded to tell me how stupid he felt. SO I said to him, "Scott, how do you think I knew to look there first?"

That's awesome! And familiar (RE: "how do you think I knew to look there first?").

Great to be able to make someone's life better without a big repair bill every now & then - definitely has it's own rewards...

Experience is what you got by not having it when you need it. But it makes a man perfect and superb...

That's $50.00 in our shop, or what we call a "Bench Fee".

yeah, I probly should have hit him harder than I did, but he has been a good customer many years and sends business my way, so he got a break.

I really love reading these "technicians diaries" - keep 'em coming, Enzo!
