  • Funny product of the day

... or maybe the week, or the entire year.

I like to pop into the Neutrik site every now and then and see what new clever connectors they've come up with, and today I noticed this:

    Neutrik - Audio - Plug Accessories - NA2JJ

Is it just my skewed sensibilities, or is that thing seriously funny? Clever yes, but really funny!

At first glance it looks like it could be a good idea, if it were insulated. How often do you use mono plugs?

      I'm sure it is insulated.
The visible outer spring joins ground to ground, and within the middle "egg" there is an insulating sleeve which very probably contains another piece of suitable helical spring.
Might save the day (or ruin it if somebody bumps into it)

        Pretty neat

        Sorry I discounted this.
At a fast glance I thought they were connecting pin jacks or banana plugs. I found a better picture on a distributor site, but even better was the youtube demo. These are much larger then the picture would suggest and have a very positive connection. The center is all plastic with just enough room for the two tips to snap together.

Definitely one of the oddest products I've ever seen, but after looking at it, makes perfect sense. It's a low-tech approach to a double-1/4" barrel connector. Pretty cool actually.
