  • TLO62 sub?

Anyone know of a common sub for a TLO62cp? A TLO72cp won't work will it?

I'm pretty sure a TL072 will work in a pinch (in most circuits anyway), but will draw more power. I usually see the TL062's in battery-powered circuits like acoustic guitar preamps for that reason.

I have successfully subbed 072's for 062's for testing purposes before.

The TL072 and TL082 will both sub for a TL062. All 3 handle a +/-18V rail voltage. The TL072 is considered better by many as it uses JFET inputs and is a low noise chip.

Most any dual op amp will function in its place. The TL062 is a low power version of the IC. it uses less current, so it is selected for battery operated things like effects pedals. If you operate an effect on a power adaptor, then it doesn;t matter.

The TL062 draws about 200ua. Or 0.2ma if you prefer. The TL072 drams 1.4ma, or about 7 times more power.

Thanks, Never realized that, but good to know. It's on a pedalboard with a hefty supply so no issues with how much it draws. I used a TL072 equiv. called a 533....i think LF533 (don't quote me, i could be wrong, as my memory doesn't go back further than about 10 minutes these days ) but in any case it crossed at NTE to NTE's equiv. of a TL072cp and worked fine. Thanks again all.

Well then you could even use a low noise op amp like the old NE5532. Takes twice the power of a 4558 but is quieter.
