  • headphone amp chip MC33079DG

I have a IC OPAMP QUAD LOW NOISE 14-SOIC - MC33079DG that I blew in an small Alesis mixer. The original headphone amp (37mA) kinda sucked anyways (and blew a AT driver when it fried) so as I need to solder in another...is there a better, more powerful option I can replace it with?

    thank you

The MC33179 is the same thing with a bit more output current - 50mA min, 80mA typical.

The MC33xxx series are nice op-amps, kind of like the old NE5532.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

I finally got around to fixing my Alesis io14 Firewire mixer. This chip that came in ended up being the larger size and I had to bend in all the leads just so inwards to mate to the minute traces and soldered the two outside ones to proper points. It was a one shot deal but it worked and it sounds REALLY great. I listened to the remastered Thriller tunes and was amazed with what's actually there.
