  • DC Brick Power Supply Dilema

I have a Fuzz and a Wah for most occasions.
I hate to mess with batteries in pedals.

I'm thinking of putting together a 6 pack of D cells and wiring them to
just these two pedals so I don't need ac power to them.

One potential problem, one pedal is center negative and the other is center
    positive.
This caused my DC Brick to cancel out when I tried it for some reason.
    (I wired the leads correctly.)
Will it do the same to my battery pack idea?
And why does it freak out the Brick?

Will I need to make two packs?

Any chance that you could draw how you wired this.
That "canceled the brick" does not make sense.

If the fuzz is made with PNP germanium transistors, then the chassis is connected to the positive supply. You can't use it on a common supply with ordinary pedals that have a negative chassis, it shorts the supply out.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

I just switched the polarity on the Fuzz wires, thinking the power supply wouldn't care...
Fortunately the Brick survived, and the pedals are fine also.

Ok so I'll order two seperate packs.
        Thanks

Many years ago I was using some homebuilt effects in the PA rack, and had a dedicated bipolar power supply to run them. I thought it would be a simple matter to run 9V to the guitar players Bee Baa unit,(it really ate batteries). I found a negative ground would hum. At the time, I just lifted the 1/4 jacks in and out from chassis ground.

            Jumbo Nine-Volt...

            Fits under pedal board.
I imagine it will last quite a while.
Made one for the Wah with center negative.
