5f1 problems

hi chris from the uk here i have just completed a 5f1 champ clone its been running great
for a couple of weeks but a bit to clean wanted a bit more gain so i decided to add 22uf
cap to first cathode resistor but on switch on amp volume is not very loud and it distorts badly and osilates completly new to this can anybody help thanks chris
