  • RMI 368x - Need help troubleshooting

I acquired this old keyboard some time ago for next to nothing. The reason? Someone had cut the old power cord off (near the base) and wired in a replacement power cord.

It looks sketchy, but it worked just fine for at least two years.

Now when I turn it on, signal comes through, but it is so faint that I have to max out my amp and put my head next to the speaker to hear it.

There is also a small 250 V fuse next to the cord, maybe its blown?

I doubt that the fuse is the problem. It sounds like you have a bad cap in the signal path or a broken connection in the signal path. If you are careful and feel safe in working on it while it is plugged in, you can trace the signal path from the output jack backwards until you find out where the path stops.
