  • mackie 1604 vlz pro problems

i bought a used mackie 1604 vlz pro used and since ive had it i cant get any output from the left side. all my speakers work, and the meter/ amps all show left side lights as if it were working fine. still no output. i run an open mic every friday and this is beginning to get very annoying. i think tonight is the night people start noticing. HELP! has anyone ever encountered this problem before?

How do you have the ouputs hooked up?
Which output jacks are you using?
Do the C/R headphones get a signal?
Are you using any insert/ aux jacks?
Does the Tape jack have signal?
Is the L/R switch engaged on each separate channel?

main outs to a power amp to main speakers (2x15 jbls)
subs 1-2 to a power amp to a 2nd smaller set of mains (1x15 communitys)
i do this to separate vacals and instruments

      tape gets signal
      no aux's running
the meter even says its working
the lights on the power amps say its working, but nothing comes out on the left side. weird man

Do you mean the amp shows signal lights or just power on light? If the amp is showing signal lights on the left side amp, and the speakers are good, then the problem is in the amp or speaker cable and has nothing to do with the mixer. Connect the left main out of the mixer to the right input of the power amp, do you get sound?

Took the words right out of my mouth
Not knowing which power amp you have, but assuming it has a signal level indicator, if the amp shows signal level then the Mackie is working!
Sounds like a power amp problem.

When I saw the thread title the first thought through my mind was "Ribbon Cables."

            but this
the lights on the power amps say its working, but nothing comes out on the left side.
says it isn't the mixer. It's either the amp, speakers or cables.
