  • M Audio Keystation 49e

I'm not able to get my USB piano to work. The "Octave" and "Advanced Function" lights come on when I plug in the power adapter and turn it on. When I plug it in through USB my Powerbook G4 doesn't say it's plugged in. I plugged it into a Microsoft computer as well. That one did acknowledge that it was there, but said that it might not be working properly. I have Garageband and Logic. it should work with either of those. I took out the broken USB plug in the back and installed a new one. I checked the connections carefully and still nothing has changed. I read a web blog that said the Keystation 49e was replaced by the KeyRig 49 due to a faulty midi chip. How would I know if it's the chip and not another problem. Also, What could be the other problem. I also read the manual for the Keystation 49e; it said to sync it with the computer through the advanced function button and use the midi keys to sync it. I did that according to the instructions and it still isn't working. The Keystation 49e is plug and play. It didn't work as plug and play, So I manually installed the driver from Avid. (also M audio) It still isn't working.

As far as I understand you have a problem with hardware.
Unfortunately the schematic cannot help you because M-Audio
does not send spare parts even to authorized services.
If your device still under warranty you are lucky.
    If no…

How long have you had the piano? Have you ever play the piano piece which you love on that USB piano? Were you able to test with a different cables and pc's operating systems?

I had exactly the same problem with some other M-Audio keyboard. It was hardware failure (microprocessor that handles midi messages). According to this post: Volume slider broken on M-Audio Keystation 49e some replacement parts are available. The question is what would be the cost?
