crate dx212 pops

i Have a crate DX 212 that pops when turned on and after being on for about 5 seconds it pops again and powers off and back on and continues to repeat this process. does anyone know what might be going on in this situation?

Something is dying.
Could be a power supply issue (caps, diodes) or the output section is failing.
My first thought would be to remove the circuit boards & inspect them, looking for bad solder joints.

It's likely arc'ing on the board. As pointed out, you'll probably find an island of black somewhere around a solder on the board. Don't run it like that anymore.

SOunds like something shorted across the power supply, including the rectifiers themselves. And the power supply is cycling trying to start.
