  • LM614cn IC weird quad opamp w/ 2 pins as ref voltage

    Hello folks,
We have a Crest power amp the utilizes the LM614 in the protection detection circuitry. I can't find a source of replacement for this thing...anyone heard of it? thanx, glen

It is a "cn" commercial rating, which for that part is 0 to 70C temperature rating. It is only available in a 16 pin wide SOIC package. In a pinch a 14 pin quad op amp could be used and 8 and 9 pads can be connected to a band-gap reference IC.

Yep, looks like you could make a replacement out of a LM324 and a LM385 (the 3-terminal adjustable voltage version, not the 2-terminal preset ones)
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

          gotta love it!
Thanx Steve...I just love it with all the knowledge out there to draw on. Being involved in present day electronics certainly gives you a cool advantage. We'll just install the 14 pin ic & then just use the open holes at pins 9 & 10 for the diode. It'll almost look as if it were designed that way.

I'll be certain to get back on (if the customer wants this amp repaired) and let you know of the results...but all seems like it's gotta work.

          thanx again, g
