peavey classic vtx series tube running hot

i have a peavey classic vtx series, have no idea about it but my 6l6GC tube it running hot and it makes a weird sound during. any help?? i will greatly appreciate it.

One tube runs hot? By running hot, do you mean the metal inside the tube gets red hot? Or do things just feel extra warm in back?

If one tube gets hot, try swapping them around. Does teh same tube get hot in the other socket, or is it the same socket with the different tube now? We are trying here to determine if you simply have a bad tube or if the amp has the problem.

For that matter, how old are your power tubes?
