Hi, I have two Lane Poor (passive) PUPs in my bass, both with low output, and a Lane Poor preamp. I want to get the least noise possible and be able to switch between pickups, neck/bridge/both. I can think of two different wirings.
1) Use a blend pot, then run into the two inputs of the preamp. What would be the ideal value for the blend pot? As high as possible to maximize pickup output?
2) What kind of results could I expect if I were to plug the pickups directly into my dual input preamp (with pickup selector switch before the preamp)? Another way of asking this question is, do I need a resistor (potentiometer) in parallel with the pickup and input of the preamp for each pickup/input? Or should the preamp input impedance be so high as to not require the parallel resistance? Wouldn't a parallel resistor just decrease the input impedance of the preamp?
3) Are there any other wirings that might help me reach my objectives of pickup switching and minimizing noise?
