  • Soundcraft GIGRAC 1000 power resistors

I have one of these for repair. The resistors R84 & R85 are broken. They are thin rectangular disc shape resistors. According to the schematic they are 5W 50ohm in value. Can I replace these with normal ceramic resistors of the same value?

    "Thin. Rectangular. Disc shape."
That does not sound like a resistor.
    A thermistor maybe?
Can you post a pic & the schematic.

Just as well we're brushing up on our bot-busting skills!
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

I have the same problem. The parts R84 AND R85 are high power thick film MPC resistors. I have contacted Soundcraft and they have said that them blowing is most likely due to a short in the amp section.

Have you had any joy replacing the resistors?

Hi. Just replace with ordinary ceramics. Works fine! Make sure you fix rest of power supply first!

Thanks thats good news. Those resistors are tricky to get hold of.

What was caput on your power supply?

On Mine, just those two resistors, a Mosfet To-220, and a resistor. All on primary side.
