Hi, In a stereo rack amp, Carvin, I wanted to drop in some KT66 but there isn't room between the tubes. So it requires a narrower tube.
Is there an affordable older, tube that isn't $/popular like the well known 6L6 that can handle 400V—besides 5881, KT77 and 6550. OLD tubes!
I have a quad of el34 Groove Tubes but want to reign in the heater draw on the power transformer plus get more low end and swing. But the output transformers are only Deluxe-size too, so...
I notice this particular "power amp" is simply a Fender circuit, but with cold-biased preamp, thus neutered in spots. So I'm moving in some 12ay7s and paralleling the plate resistors with 100k to clear up the tone.
