  • A1688 transistor equivalent?

    Hi people
    Can anyone tell me what I can use instead of an A1688 transistor?
    The PCB is marked A1688 but I cant find anything on the net.
    The amp is a Carlsbro Marlin 8400.
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers Mitchy

    For some reason, 2SA, 2SB and 2SC transistors are often shorthand marked without the 2S. Try looking up a 2SA1688 and see if it would work in the spot that you have open on the board.

    A quick search shows a PNP general purpose high frequency transistor. Would that be appropriate in the amp?

      Data Sheet:
      sanyo 2SA1688.doc
      A1688= 2SA1688 =
      matsushita 2SA1532
      MITSUBISHI 2SA1602
      ROHM 2SA1808

      OK this is what it says in the Japanese transistor manual, but I would check carefully before installing, the ratings lead configuration, and maximums. A transistor is only as good as the tech who installs it.
      Check carefully the other parts in the circuit and power supply.
      If you found one blown part there can be others. It is up to you to find all the bad parts---replace them w/ correct rating.
