I bought a re issue super reverb from someone and I used it for some gigs but it always had some "buzz" to the sound. recently I found out that one speaker was blown, one was bad and the other two didn't sound too bad but what ever I did with the amp, I couldn't get rid of this buzz sound (sounds like a speaker flubbing). My first start was to buy 4 new speakers so I got the Eminence 1058's to get a less brittle high end. That seems to have work but....the buzz didn't go away. I pulled tubes, swapped tubes, nothing worked. I finally realized that it stopped when I turned off the reverb. Before that though, I thought that I could unplug the reverb tank andtry it, well, not too good. It got a screeching hi oscylating (or how ever you spell that) noise and I quick turned the amp off. I plugged the reverb tank back in and it worked again. That's when I stepped on the reverb button to see if it still worked and noticed that the noise went away when the reverb was switched off. I already changed the tube so could enyone give me any idea's what I might be able to look for?? I did a lot if fixing things like bad grounds, finding burn parts and even replace the diodes in my old pro reverb but I really don't know what is what when looking at resistors and stuff....with stripes! LOL! Anyway, I'de really like to get this thing rolling so I can use it on stage. The worst part is that I over paid for the amp because it was a 2004 and in dead mint condition with a Calzone road case. Would my tank be bad? I have one in an old Multivox echo unit that I could try in it's place.

All the footswitch does is ground off the reverb return. Try this. Unplug the footswitch from the amp completely. Does the hum remain or stop?
Is the footswitch you are using the original one? The original used shielded cable, which is important.
The reverb pan itself COULD be involved, but when you disconnected it you got loud noise, so I think the amp has the problem, not the pan.
My working idea is you either have a problem with the footswitch, or perhaps the FS jack is poorly grounded to the chassisEducation is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
