  • help with ampeg baby bass

I just picked up an old upright ampeg baby bass ( I think ) The logo plate on top says ampeg the ampeg co inc it has one control above the bridge I'm wondering if anyone might be interested in purchasing it and would like to detemine a value and the originality. The neck seems to rock a bit at the joint and I am not sure if the screws on either side of the neck joint are original. Any help greatly appreciated.

I've been repairing and restoring Ampeg Baby Basses for a long time, and I'm honestly puzzled by what you have there. It's either a very early prototype, or it's been heavily customized somehow. The tailpiece and bridge look like authentic parts from an early Baby Bass. The logo on the headstock is strange; I've never seen that particular logo used on a Baby Bass. The weird part is the pickup system. I've never seen one like that before. The standard Baby Bass pickup has a larger base plate with the Volume and Tone controls built into it. But the body on this bass is obviously made to fit that pickup system. And there are things that don't look right about the body too.

This may be some kind of an import clone, which someone has customized with some original parts and an Ampeg sticker on the headstock? I'm supposed to be a Baby Bass "expert" and I really don't know what you have there. It's not a normal Baby Bass that I'm familiar with.

Dear tsaxme: do what you want, but I guess sharing discussions here is searchable and may be useful to others in the future.

I am telling you, if there is faulty in ampeg baby bass then you should repair it. Then you can determine it's value and sell someone who want it.My idea is you sell it on ebay for reasonable prize.
