Any chance of getting a sticky listing well-respected, reputable suppliers of amp parts (and possibly, guitar, keyboard, etc.)? I'm searching for some parts for the old MASCO, and it sure would be easier to have a central location (here) to find many links to places I may not have known about, or have forgotten, other than Antique Electronics, Tubestore...stuff like that. Tubes, caps, switches...all that stuff? Maybe put a guitar parts sticky near the top of the Guitar section, etc?

That looks like a decent source...but...maybe they could sub-categorize it to "US Suppliers", "European Suppliers", etc. If I was over there, I'd check that one out...but never know if someone on either side of the pond is the only place to find a particular part, eh?

It would be a nice proposal to add a supplier forum section because more and more manufacturers are not selling parts to independent shops or end users. Even a Black list of manufacturers who are not cooperative with parts so we can recommend anyone who asks not to buy equipment where parts are unavailable.
By having a section for parts sources, the vendors who want to cooperate could make that known in that forum.

OK, I'll start. If this is seen as "spam" or unwanted advertising, is it possible to have it moved somewhere appropriate, and other things referencing it? I just thought it would be handy to have a one-stop reference for much of the stuff people here want to use to build and repair things. If there is a problem linking these, by all means remove. I don't even know if the people running these places are OK with it...but I don't know why they would complain.

Of course, if there are any of these that I linked that has a bad reputation, please advise. I've used a lot of these, and they were fine. Others, I haven't, but bookmarked, so caveat emptor. They are all included for comparison purposes on prices, which may vary widely from source to source for the same exact parts, or vary in quality from different manufacturers of similar parts. This is not an endorsement of any of them (though a lot of you already know who is fair and reliable).

And don't forget that MANY parts we use are common in the electronics parts markets, so suppliers like Mouser, Allied Electronics, Newark, Digikey are first places to look for me. And smaller houses like Jameco often come through - I find photocells there for example.

And surplus houses are good resources for some things: MArlin P Jones, Hosfelt, Alltronics, All Electronics, Electronics Goldmine, MECI (Mendelson Electronics?), and even now and then Fair Radio Sales.


A database of suppliers may be handy, I myself would probably find it more useful going the other direction. Instead of a list of supplier names with what they sell afterwards, I might prefer part categories, with companies listed that sell the item, so transformer sellers, tube sellers, chassis sellers, speaker sellers, etc. SO an individual company might be on several lists. Just a thought.
