Hi. I have a powered speaker on my bench. Its a crap local design. Looks a bit like montarbo inspired. Anyways.
Replaced all irfp9249 & irfp240 fets. Also put a matched longtail pair in the front. This speaker has no speaker delay circuit. When I switch on there is a loud pop followed by a crazy buzz. If however I switch on and connect the woofer later all is fine. There is no dc offset on the output and the unit plays like a dream.
This leads me to think there is a stability issue, and the amp doesnt like a speaker load until the voltages have settled first.
What can be done other than adding a delay circuit? And if thats my only option, will the unit be okay for hard work?
