  • Analogue Renaissance, Juno 106, 80017A, voice chip clones? Where are they?

Does anyone know what is going on with this company and their voice chip clones?

I have bought from them before, they are excellent clones and I know of no other source.

I now have two customers waiting plus my own synth needs 2 of these chips, and I am getting no response from them.

Does anyone know what is going on, or know of another source?

    Thanks

Have you tried removing the coating on the chips yet? That has worked with the typical fuzzing out/distortion/intermittent function issues I've encountered. It takes a few days and lots of patience (and acetone), but the chips seem to sound like new afterwards.

Thanks, I've never tried this. I did get a hold of Analogue Renaissance and ordered 6 new chips, they were having trouble with their email but still in business. My customers right now are willing to shell out for new chips that are reliable. I will definitely hang on to the old chips and try this method though.

Hey tired eyes... Did you get a new email address for them? I have an order that's been paid since 3/21, and I haven't gotten it. Getting frustrated as my emails have gone unanswered! Let me know if there's a secret!

I don't have a secret, I just eventually got an email back. I got my parts a week ago and it did take about a month after paying. I would email again and ask what's up, maybe that would speed things along. I ordered extra since I'm a tech and it pays to have these on hand and I don't want to wait 2 months for them in the future. If I were you I'd do the same even if it's just for your own board. These chips are universally failure prone and you never know when one will crap out.

Hey thanks for the reply. I'll keep trying different versions of the email address too... info@, sales@ etc. I'm a tech too, and I thought this would be a great resource, but the turnaround time is a killer. Thanks again!

So, is the theory that the coating is absorbing moisture over time and causing these issues, or something else?

I've replaced a number of these with the Analogue Ren. modules, and they work great, but if I could do it cheaper without waiting for the parts from overseas, that would be awesome!
