Anyone out there with a Roland Alpha Juno?

It is an Alpha Juno 1.

I have some questions.

I picked up one of these and it exhibits an odd issue.

Plug a 1/4" cable into mono and it works mono
Plug a 1/4" cable into the other jack (for stereo) as a mono, and it works
Plug both 1/4" cables in (L and R presumably) and one side has 1/2 the volume of the other.

Am I missing something. Is there a chance that the STEREO input is to be used with a TRS stereo cable?
Most stereo mono devices I have dealt with have 1 jack for Mono and use both jacks for stereo.

When you use either side for mono, the two channels are wired together in parallel, so you'd have little way of knowing if left and right were uneven. SO now in stereo one channel is low. Swap the cables in the back. Does the low channel move with the cables?

Run the synth volume all the way up to eliminate volume control issues, still uneven?

Also, how does it sound through headphones, is one side weak?
