  • PV XR8300 feedback LED's dimly lit on monitor channel eq

A friend brought me a Peavey XR8300 powered mixer that functions OK, but the LED's for the monitor channel are dimly lit all the time. They light up brighter, as they should, when louder sounds occur in certain frequency bands. I've been comparing voltages between the two channels and they're less than a volt off in various points of the circuit. I'm about to go check circuit components with the power off now while I'm waiting for a response.

    Thanks!

Call the factory and get the schematics, how would you know what parts to check otherwise?

If all the LEDs are on dim, then we look for a common element, like a current controlling transistor.

      Sorry Enzo
, I failed to mention that I have the schematics.

So find what controls those LEDs, look for a current setting transistor common to the row of them, or perhaps a power supply voltage that is wrong to that section. It will either be a VU drive IC, or a ladder made up of a few comparators. Se if there is any unwanted DC offset at the inputs to that drive.
