  • Behringer PMH880s possibly a PMP1680S?

I have Behringer PMH880s powered mixer that looks to be a PMP1680s. I know there were two versions out of the PMH880s. The first version has two fans one the back of the unit and uses a 6.3 amp fuse and uses 700 watts AC

Mine looks like this version and uses a 10amp fuse like the PMP1680s

Something else that's weird is the effects list on the front of the mixer didn't match the actual effects in the mixer. It had the same effects list that the PMP1680s has listed but the effects from the first version of the PMH880s.

Are these versions just PMP1680s in disguise?

As far as I can tell, the mixer is about the same, though the part numbers on the board are often off by a digit or two, so that leads me to think they added a few resistors or whatnot. But other than R278 being R279 on the other, the circuits look the same. In fact the parts list for the PMP1680 even says PMH880 for the main board. So I'll assume them to be the same.

The 880 came out, I think, with DPA400 power amps, and I think they changed to the HCA2400 later in production. The 1680 has a P0A8M power amp. And I am not sure but that may also be called an HCA2500.

But essentially they are more or less the same product. The PMP line replaced the PMH line. In some cases the change was just cosmetic. SO I suspect the later issue 880s just turned into the 1680 when the brnad designation was updated.

As to FX, hard to say what happened. The effects are in the little card, so if it got swapped out in QC, it may have been swaqpped with the slightly different one. It also could be that yours was a transition unit and should haqve had a different list on the panel art.

thanks Enzo. Are the HCA 2400/2500 a Cool Audio amplifier?
Others online have mentioned in reviews about the effects list being wrong on the front of the unit.
I'm happy with mine, seems the first version had problems with the amp section and mic pres that easily clipped

They seem to work. I don't enjoy repairing them.
