just finished a twin clone build, have two issues.....seems to overly distort(when on scope) after turning it up to 6-7, and a hum that may bee a little noisy to some. All top quality components...Sprauge, Mercury, JJ tubes....the only el-cheapadoro cap is in the Bias circuit, which could be a noise source. Any thoughts would be appreciated!!!

First off, I don't see where you posted what voltage level (Vac) you applied to the input.
Without that information, saying it distorts at 6-7 is meaningless.
Also, the tone controls have a lot to do with the preamp gain.
As to the hum, place a meter on the speaker leads & measure the Volts ac ripple (ie: hum)
4Mv's is good.
10 is aggravating.
