  • Peavey Classic pwr tube/solid- No Sound

Its old amp late 60 early 70's 2x12 tweed with square magnets. I had it repaired, the tech replaced the output transformer. It worked great for the first two times I turn it on. The following time there was no sound. The pwr light was on the pwr tubes where on, no sound at all! I checked the pwr at the bottom of can capacitor 3 leads had 530v and on had 14v. Im not sure what to do next any ideas? thanks

There are only two working leads on a capacitor.
Not sure what the third & forth are.
Take it back to the tech?

The B series had a three section can cap I believe, maybe...

Yes, I was referring to a can capacitor 40mfd 525v,40mfd 525v,20mfd 525v and 20mfd -525v. I've lost contact with the tech, so taking it back is not an option. I have electronic training in the military. I know basis trouble shooting and understand schematic drawing a bit rusty. I can manage with the some good info. Im new to tube amplifier circuits and their troubleshooting. I have a couple of sick amps and want to work on them myself and I know enough to not zap myself. Any help will be appreciated, thanks

p.s. Anzo I have been reading your post on classic 30 mods. I have also peavey delta blues 1996.

Well, we went from 14 volts to -525 volts.
Typically, a can cap will be marked in uf (microfards) and the working voltage.
See if that can be read off of the can.
