CNC/Adobe Illustrator

Not sure if this is the EXACT place to post this, but we will give it a shot. I realized today I have a few nice resources available to me at the college I go to. These include, laser cutting, CNC routing/cutting and a ton more. I decided maybe I will try buying a guitar body blank, designing a shape, and using the CNC to cut it. I was told today someone did this before by designing their guitar in Adobe Illustrator. Anyone have any experience with this, and could give some insight? Im use Illustrator CS6 quite often, so I can get around it fairly well.

AFAIK the standard drawing meant for CAD fabrication starts as an Autocad one, or some dedicated program.
You can export Adobe Illustrator drawings as .DXF or .DWG suitable for Autocad, but that's an extra step and sometimes you get unexpected results.
