  • New powered mixer problems

    Hi all,
I recently bought a Europower pmp980s powered mixer (Amazon.com: Behringer EUROPOWER PMP980S 900-Watt 10-Channel Powered Mixer: Musical Instruments) and everything is working great, except the SPEAKON outputs in the back are not working. I'm thinking that maybe this is a problem with the internal amplifier, but I was wondering if there is some button or switch that will make it work

As a side note, I can connect speakers/an amp to the Main output channels and it works, but no luck with the speaker outputs :/

I'm really new to all this, so any help/advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Assuming you used the same speakers and cables on the 2nd amp, that tells us that the cables and speakers are fine and of course that the mixer section of the unit is also fine. It's likely, then, that you do have a power amp problem. Depending on your definition of "recently", I'd send it off for warranty repair/replacement before it expires.

Well, there is a switch on the front panel that 'splits' the power amps.

      Up is Main signal L & R

      Middle is Monitor & Mains.

Down is for bridge mode.(this requires special wiring. Consult the manual!)

There is also a switch that mutes Ch 1-10.
      Make sure that is out.

Ah, I forgot about that mute switch. Good catch Jazz. Definitely something to check, although presumably he's got that since he got sound using an external amp. As far as the amp assign switching, you'd get something out of one side or the other regardless of switch position and, the way I read the OP, he got nothing out of either output- not that having it switched correctly isn't important.

And of coarse the Neutrix connector must be wired correctly.

I am not all that clear on what would happen to the amplifiers if the connector was wired correctly (for normal operation ie: Mains L/R or Mon/ Mains) & the switch was thrown to 'Bridge' which requires different wiring of the connector.

Are you saying that your Mixer Main Out drives speakers ??????????????????????
            ........
but no luck with the speaker outputs :/
and the speaker out does not?

I read it that main out drives an amp and speakers.

I read the "/" as : "speakers *or* an amp".

The slash usually indicates an option.

Hi guys. The BEHRINGER products uses pin +1 is positive and -1 is the negative on the speakon. If you dont get output ( audio on the speakers) you either have a problem with the sockets or the power amp section is not working (damaged/blown).
