  • B4R.. Quit.

No two week notice, do not pass go, or anything. It just quit.

It was working. Moved downstairs, set back up, not working.

It was not dropped, shaken, beaten or called dirty names (until it quit, that is). Upon visual inspection the caps, board and all associated pieces appear as one would expect. The fuse and power switch also passed initial consideration.

So, before 1) removing the board, committing my boyfriend and myself to a project that currently holds no discernible direction, goal or end; or 2) finding a local shop to hire that may or may not know how to repair the head; I thought I'd reach out here first. Any thoughts?

Of note: yes, the cord and outlets have been factored out as a potential source of the problem.

All snarkiness is directed at a particular B4R, your input, thoughts and ideas are most welcomed!

By not working do you mean that it lights up but there is no sound or does it not light up at all?

If it lights up did you try using a spare patch cord between the FX or pre/power in/out amp jacks?

Bill is right, we can't offer any useful information without knowing the actual symptoms. If you are planning to repair it yourself, do you have basic test instruments?
Does the amp indicate it is turning on or completely dead? If lighting up but no sound, is there absolutely no sound with your ear up to the speaker..hiss or low hum? Have you tried another cable between amp and speaker if it does light up. If it does not light up, have you tried a different power cord. If it does not light, is the upstairs wall socket switched, as many bedrooms are wired so at least one outlet is switched by a wall switch intended to switch a lamp.
If it lights up and the external fuse is ok(how did you test it?), there are additional fuses inside which you should not change unless you know the circuit.
