  • Cloud CX-A6 weird one - And any Cloud Schematics please

Has anyone got any schematics or service info for Cloud Electronics gear. The only one I have found online is for the Vtx750 Vtx1200 Vtx1500. Any others would be much appreciated as I have a good many customers using their kit.

Today's strange one concerns a CX-A6 (the 6 channel version of the CX-A4):

I haven't dug too deep yet but it baffles me what could have caused this. 8 weeks ago I lent a used Cloud CX-A6 6x120W power amp to a restaurant for low-level background music. Yesterday they called to say it had died. Inside it there is a single toroid and power supply board supplying three 2 channel power amp boards labelled PC340001. There are some nice pictures of an amp card here:

The amp powered up and all the rails seemed to be working. Each power amp card has two 6.3AT fuses feeding the output devices. All six fuses had blown. The strange thing is that only 2 channels of the amp were in use and I doubt they ever went beyond 30W. What could have caused all of the fuses to pop?

I changed the fuses in one card and switched on for a second. One of the output devices glowed bright red (melting one of its legs in the process) and just one of the two fuses popped before I could switch it off.

Here is what I know so far:
The PSU board provides three +/- rails.
+/-48V (high current) for the output stages
+/-15V for the input and VCA boards
+/- 60V (ish) that feeds the driver stages of the power amp cards. This driver supply is a higher voltage than the output stage. Isn't that unusual?

Clearly some schematics would really help but I am puzzled as to what could have caused this failure. Any ideas, geniuses?
