For the power you need to draw, you'd have that wall wart smokin' before it got one tenth of the way there. You charge the battery slowly, then it can deliver a walloping amount of current for a short time. You'd need a serious boat anchor power supply to come up with that kind of current to run your tool. Maybe you can find an old Kepco or Lambda 30 amp low voltage DC supply at a surplus shop. We used 'em in the lab to run big filaments in ultra hi vac experimental systems.

In short there ain't no way around it.

Since your tool is an impact driver. Who knows what pulled current it may require. Guessing is not a good way to determine your requirements. Best to do the car battery test discussed earlier.

typical AC powered impact drivers pull 6-8A at 110AC or about 1hp (745w) on average, and they make 350 fl-lbs of torque. The typical 10.8v Li ion powered driver can do 24Nm = 18ft-lbs, their max torque is 90Nm = 66 ft-lbs. If we take 2.5w/ ft-lb that means the little Li ion unit pulls 166w or 15A in a pulse, or 4.17 A sustained. A 5A RMS (fan cooled SMPS) supply with some big stiffening capacitors may do it for you!

Looking on line it seems that a new battery is about US $30

          If it's your charger that's bad it's $58

Make sure it's the battery that's faulty and if so just fork over the 30 clams and it's done.
