    I also found a gold version;

    MK Toughplug - Gold Plated - Black [BLACK MK 655 Toughplug - Gold] - £15.00 : Precision Audio Cables and Interconnects, Multiregion, Multizone Blu Ray Players and Professional Hifi Accessories, UK High Quality Audio Cables Shop

    They should post pictures of the people who buy these. I'd like to see what a true believer actually looks like.

    Perhaps they're the same people who buy copper gardening tools that are 'beneficial' because they don't disrupt the soil's magnetic properties. But now copper is linked to Alzheimer's disease. Copper, soil, good, bad, Alzheimer's, soil...Aarrrrggh.

    Mummy, I feel like there are two armies fighting inside my head.

      meh. That is SO last century.

      I've decided to forgo power connections altogether. I've wired all of my gear straight to the breaker box! No more annoying signal loss from the awful power connectors!

        If you convert to 240 and direct wire, you also get much improved stereo separation and sound staging.

            Get the gold plated one. It costs more. Wouldn't want your cork sniffy friends looking down their noses at your scruffy silver plug crabbing about how it sounds ALMOST as good as theirs. Get yours cryogenically frozen too. Now who's da man?

                The last time that I was in an audiophile store was a long time ago... when I had a friend that was going to go 10x over budget on a pair of Sonus Faber Cremona and I had to talk him out of it. The guy who owned the store got to talking about how my buddy needed to buy $pecial, ultra-heavy hose-like power cables for their low Z and extended frequency response. I asked him if he had wiring like that inside of the wall, between the service panel and the outlet.

                He shifted the discussion to some test plots of the $pecial power cables that were made by an EE customer of his, who disputed the need for the $pecial power cables and wanted to prove his point with objective data. The EE borrowed the cable and brought back a square wave impulse response chart for the power cable. The store owner said that the EE was wrong in concluding that the $pecial cable was unnecessary, and he pointed to a miniscule rounding on the edge of the square wave, claiming that it would produce audible effects. It was obvious that the guy didn't understand what frequency that represented, and that RF frequency response wasn't pertinent in a 60 Hz power supply cable.

                Sometimes it's best not to get involved in audiophile discussions.

                  Gold, phooey! Platinum is what you need. Dispense with those low-life base metals. That stuff is just for show-offs. Get your UK mains plug machined out of solid platinum, including the fuse. Then you can avoid ever having to break out the silver polish. Remember silver DOES tarnish and that has audio implications doesn't it? Besides, your audiophile listening schedule is so full, you don't have time to sit around polishing your plug. You'll spend 24 hours a day with a smug smile knowing those pretenders with gold plate plugs are merely getting by with a second-best connection.
                  This isn't the future I signed up for.

                    You're all so the 0-hundreds. I use super conductor plugs. That way I know that all electrons haven't lost any energy on the way into my amp.

                              Wow. This is the first time that two unrelated posts needed the same response!

                              Naive and/or uneducated can be fixed, but stupid is forever.

                              I agree with Doug Self's comment: where does improving the incoming AC power line stop? Should a truly dedicated audiophool gold plate the power poles all the way back to the power generation station?
                              Amazing!! Who would ever have guessed that someone who villified the evil rich people would begin happily accepting their millions in speaking fees!

                              Oh, wait! That sounds familiar, somehow.
