  • Opening up an STC 4021 microphone

Anybody ever opened one of these up?

There are 2 screws in next to the 3 connection pins. Easy to loosen, but what next?

Feels like the 2 halves of the spherical body are welded together. Any safe way of splitting them and getting in there that anyone knows of?

Across pins 1 & 3 reads around 17k ohms. From what I've read the mic coil should read around 50 ohms. So not open circuit, but something is wrong. The output level is very low!

Any help would be much appreciated.

      sealing / glue ?

I have not opened it myself.

In the spec sheet you see a cross section (attached).
The housing has to be completely airtight.

Maybe they used some glue or sealant.
