  • Peavey closing UK distribution at Corby

Only just learned about this. But then again, I only recently found out Elvis is dead......

    Mick,
I just heard about this a couple of days ago when I called up for something and the IVR said please send an email to customerservice@peavey.com. I hadn't bought anything from Peavey since last summer. Such a shame as they provided such fantastic service.

I did hear that Barnes & Mullins are taking over the distribution in EU land so I have asked, both B&M and Peavey, if that covers parts as well.

That's just a minor symptom of a much deadlier illness:

A Chinese distribution hub is the most likely scenario in the future
      Chilling.

Better learn and get used to these because they loom in our future :

      I already did.

I understand that Capital chases cheap labour and so on . . . Matter of fact I used to be a cheap outsourced resource for a well known US telco. They used UK labour because it was half the price until China came online, we moaned about that.

What I do find concerning was the thought of all those amps going on the junk pile because repair costs went beyond what it is worth. Here in the UK the Peavey parts people were just about the best in the business. They would research parts, phone you back, post things out super quick for next to nothing. OK product longevity may prevent replacement sales according to the MBA types but I always feel that if something packs in early, then that manufacturer is off my list.

However, it looks like there is a reprieve, for some of us at least.

Breaking news in my mail box is that Barnes and Mullins will be handling parts from about a months time, no details on pricing etc just yet. Understand this was agreed back in January so good news for techs in the UK but obviously a massive shame for those impacted by Peavey's restructuring plans.

the recent episode of "Undercover Boss" is illustrative, Hartley is handing over the reins to his son in law and their number of US factories has gone from 6 back to one.

              A further correction from B&M below . .

We’ve just had an update about the spare parts from Peavey and these are no longer coming to us, they’re going to Surrey Amps who look after Peavey’s warranty work. I thought I would let you know in case you hadn’t yet filled in our account forms as you might not need to now. Surrey Amps details are below should you want to contact them about spares.
