    Guitar amps are supposed to distort.

      When I started playing with amps (some twenty years ago) I noticed that Fender amps tend to be more nonlinear on clean tones than Marshalls. Which is opposite what I expected since Fenders are the more popular clean tone and Marshalls are popular for their overdriven tone. It makes sense to me now.
