My first gig, we needed monitor power, and all we had was a Fender Showman head for the job. It was a lot of work to get good sound out of it without lots of feedback freq peaks.

When I started playing with amps (some twenty years ago) I noticed that Fender amps tend to be more nonlinear on clean tones than Marshalls. Which is opposite what I expected since Fenders are the more popular clean tone and Marshalls are popular for their overdriven tone. It makes sense to me now.
