  • Convert Firewire to usb without cable??

Hi, anyone here knows if it's possible to change/replace the firewire outputs of a external sound device for USB outputs?? I've got an m-audio firewire solo audio device and my laptop has no firewire conections, just USB. And before someone tell me about the converters, i should say i've tested 'em and they doesn't work at all. Thanks a lot.

Really can't be done efficiently and inexpensively. If you absolutely have to do it your best bet would be putting a FireWire card in a desk top or get a used laptop with a FireWire or Thunderbolt (Mac) input. Less expensive and more functional that a $300+ adapter. I use a presonus FireWire interface into a 5 year old MacBook Pro. Works fine.

i faced something similar a few years ago, my computer savvy friend had a firewire interface (card), (so I've never bought one). It works well, although I think the M audio device has to be energized before starting the computer.
