  • Alesis Quadraverb s5 LCD issue

I have an old Alesis Quadraverb keyboard the first iteration of it. The lcd started going real dim kinda of like and old lcd watch in the sun, numbers barely there.

Any chance someone out there has a schematic for one or can help work something out for a replacement lcd? Alesis doesn't have any instock as its old 1994.

    Thnaks,

Is it a Quadrasynth (keyboard), or Quadraverb (rack mount effect)? The description is confusing. I don't have a schematic and good luck getting one from Alesis. There should be a couple of separate pins on the display for the backlight which is normally 5V on those. I'd start there and see if you have backlight power.

At any rate, if it's just the backlight, I'd give these guys a shout. I've used their backlights many a time for all sorts of gear. If they don't have it, they'll often build it for you.

If it needs the display, the Lumex displays that Digikey sells often will work. You usually have to transfer the header, but otherwise (if you get the right one) they are drop in replacements for many Alesis products. Here's an example (I believe for the Quadraverb). You'll have to peruse for your specific piece.

Don't know if you are still in the hunt, but...

I ran across this looking for something else:
ALL ALESIS SPARE PARTS - Alesis Spare Parts

They have two different Quadrasynth displays listed, not sure what number QS you have.

Ok I got the display installed and now am getting an address error. Anyone got any suggestions for this? I've seen mention of using a data disk or a soundcard any idea where I might find one for this one?

            Thanks,
