The 5v circuit powers an optional digital output that this unit doesn't have, and I think that the A/C+ and -A/C are for the lights on the meters.

That could explain the low resistance reading so more isolation troubleshooting is in order.
The schematic set for the Dbx 586 is split up onto around 9 pages so it takes a while to figure out the relationship between all the circuitry.
