    Let's say I have a 50/50uF 500v cap can. Can I wire one cap can in series to get 25uF/1000v?

    Does each section have an individual ground? Usually the answer to this is "no," and so no you can't wire them in series... if the answer is yes, then yes you can.

    If one of the better minds here says otherwise, I will humbly stand corrected and delete my post, will have learned something, and will be asking the same question!

      I vote you are right, they almost always have a common negative end.
